Whilst Maggs’ was having a shocking run of luck, Brad’s better half won a major prize in a Milo competition that gave them the proverbial opportunity of a lifetime to travel the world. Latest stop Peru, but we’ve all been tortured at work with tales of Amsterdam, the Pyramids, England and a bunch of other places. Half their bloody luck, but of course this didn’t mean the rest of the band got to holiday too!
We’ve been writing the blueprint for the future of Pod People and we’ve decided that future is a lot more varied than the Pod of the past, we’re getting slower and heavier with each new song, really influenced by the stuff the Pod writing team has been listening too of late; Goatsnake, Cathedral, Khanate, Old Man Gloom, Burning Witch, Warhorse - In short - doomy stuff! It’s not all black clouds though, we’re exploring stuff that’s a little dynamically different to stuff we’ve written in the past but there’s still the “Motorbike metal for mull pigs” ideology in effect, ie, PLENTY of chuggin’ beefy riffs.
We want to write the heaviest stuff in our style of “doom metal” you’ve heard, hope you dig it and come drink in the doom saloon with us. We’ve been to Back Beach Studios with our beef-master DW Norton esq to produce the heaviest doom metal album the Southern Hemisphere has ever heard.
It’ll be pretty heavy anyway ;o)
Roy Torkington of Taographics has produced an album sleeve worthy of any metal fans collection. Based on the story of Dante’s Inferno from The Divine Comedy, it’s a full scale map of hell. I will post the basic story at a later date on these pages, I learnt far more about 16th Century Italian poetry than any metal guitar player should. Roy executed our ideas so well and we want to thank him for such excellent work.
